First i would like to say this is a great website with lots of info on cannondales. I just recently purchased a '03 cannabal that needs a crank and piston and would like to know if this is something i could do myself with some motor knowledge, i just rebuilt my ex but know this would be alot harder. I see that the crank going out is common, what could i do to make sure this don't happen again? Also i'm brand new to the cannondale scene so what are some good places to get oem and aftermarket things for cannondales?

Holeshot, you'll probably end up calling me for the crank rebuild. but our cranks are also available through Haydug Cycles, Southbay Moto, Champion Motorsports, Pro Motorsports and The Quadshop to name a few. We also do total engine rebuilds also if you're interested. I can be contacted by e-mail diamondracing@cs.com,

Winky, sent you a email. Someone told me i'll need a oil pump to, is this true?

the most likely damage to the oil pump is that the rotor gets scarred where it fits into the housing (case), we can usually fix this, in extreme cases of damage, we remachine the housing and sleeve it. Which salvages the case.
