How to CHECK VALVES?

I have a service manual , it says something about shims? I have had my bike for over a year and wanted to make sure everything is still tight! All help is appreciated thanks !

The shims are used to adjust the valves, they go under the valve buckets.

Check the valves per the instructions in the manual, and if their out, use the table in the manual to determine which shims you need.

SO you have to buy new shims if there out of place? Where can i get them and how much do you they cost.

You can probably get them from any of the dealers on this site, and they cost around $4-5 a piece from what I remember.

I seem to remember someone saying that the shims are the same as some Suzuki street bike. Can't remember which bike though.

I heard they were exactly the same as those for the Z400.

There are 2 standard size shims used on most bikes 5mm and 9.5mm diameter of which the cannondale uses the 9.5mm diameter.

Yep, they're Suzuki ones. Your local dealer can also order them out of Parts Unlimited.
