Pooping/Backfiring out the airbox

#1 Post by dalewannbe »

Anyone ever experience this and what does it mean.

I tried starting my quad today after sitting for several weeks. The gas tank was off during this time. I tried starting it today and it sounded like it was going to start the first couple of cranks. Then it started backfiring out the airbox? Smoke was coming out the airbox too. Any idea or advice. Thanks

Fouled plug

Probably a fouled plug. Happens sometimes when they sit awhile.

Make sure your throttle body is on good and tight. Sounds like the airbox popped off of the throttle body. Pull the front plastic off and look down where the airbox mounts to the motor and make sure she's sealed up good.

I changed the plug and it started up. I did pop the throttle body off though, so I had to tighten that up again. Now I can't get it past idle with out it killing. I plan on doing a throttle recalibration to see if that fixes it. Thanks for the replies
