engine timing

#1 Post by bouncerdude »

i was wondering how to time my engine. i got a stage 8 kit from cannondale27 a while ago and i have the directions on how to time up the cam gears, but how should the stroke of the piston be in reference to those? on the sheet i have, the marks on the drive gear are basicly pointing at the marks on the cam gears (the right pointing at the mark on the right cam gear, or close to it i think, and the other side respective) how should my piston be? cuz i have the chain off and im not sure if the crank got moved at all and i dont want to put it back together and have to take it apart again biggrin.gif.

tdc bolt

hey there is a bolt and spacer (if you are looking at the crank form the clutch side) just to the lower left of the crank. remove the bolt and spacer, reinstall the bolt, turn the engine over slowly untill the bolt goes in, it should be on TDC. set your valve timing, removed the bolt reinstall spacer and install bolt again. I think some of the manual are over on cannondaler
