Throttle body???

Over my winter break from school I had got an offer from a friend to get my head ported so I had no choice but to drop the engine. To make a long story short I had looked at the throttle body to see is I could experiment by boring it out a little or adapting a GM throttle body since their sensors are identical to ours. When I started to take apart the throttle body I realized that the area where the throttle plate is placed is around two thousands larger than the ends. I was wondering if there is a reason for this? All I could figure out that at full throttle this would slow down the air. Just from a theory point of view, I think the best thing would be to have a large opening that would begin with a clamp on air filter that would taper down through a lager bore throttle body to right before the injectors, so the air would speed up when it entered right before the injectors. Kind of like the set up on a carbureted car. This could give a better mixture but might alter the spray pattern ???????????????.. let me know what you think

air would actually slow as the opening was widened further down, and work against the intent of the velocity stack, wouldn't it?.... hmmmn, was that Boyle or Bernoulli?

Some of us that have had porting done have also had the throttlebody enlarged. As soon as I get mine back from Timbo I will let you all know.
