Cannondale's "new secret"

Well, I just pulled a 2003 motor apart yesterday, and low and behold I found something I had never seen before in an engine. I called the owner, and he claimed to have ridden it several races before it quit. Not sure if they were raising the compression (LOL) or what they were thinking leaving this foreign object in the motor, but sure it didn't help performance any.

This motor was ran more than it sat from April to November. I never thought I had good luck but I guess I was wrong.

How could it run with that in there? I would think the valves would have gotton smashed to heck by it.

I am the lucky one. What kind of prize do I get? That is the motor that was on the bike with Walsh a-arms. The day it quit I actually won both motos. After the second moto went to wash the bike and it wouldn't turn over.
