stock air filters

#1 Post by ATKnewbie »

I have two stock air filters that need cleaning.

What does everyone recommend using to clean them and what oil to oil them back up?

I bought the no-toil airfilter kit from blackwidow and I love it. Here is the link and the price is also good:

If you order from him expect to have it soon but I think he is on vacation right now so see if you can buy it from some where or some one else.

I need something I can get this week so that I have two clean filters for the dunes this weekend.
The dealers around here do not stock this type of stuff.

Newbie,

Go to the bike shop and get some foam filter cleaner and oil. It's universal for all foam filters. This will get you going for the weekend. Once you clean those bad boys and reoil them, you will find out just how nasty foam air filter oil can be. You will then sell the old ones or give them away, and buy 2 No-Toils from BlackWidow as they use a vegetable based oil and special cleaner to keep them maintained. You can literally wash these babies in the sink, as the oil is biodegradable!! DO NOT do this with the original ones as the oil is hazardous waste. Brad will sell you a two pack of filters and a maintenence kit for a good price and you'll be all set.

I use the no-toil kit on my stock filters. I washed it real good with some dawn and then used the no toil cleaner and oil to finish it off:)

Do you see a performance increase by moving from the stock filter to a NoToil?

I have heard that the stock filter flows pretty well.

So gasoline and motor oil isn't acceptable anymore?

will mineral spirits be ok to clean them to get the oil out before switching to the no-toil filter oil since other oil that you use is messy?
