From my dealings with Ohlins, you ain't givin your dealer much credit, at least as far as quad shocks go. Olhins was no help to me
I don't know anything about SSD. but the first thing I would do is remove the shocks. Take the spring adjusting clip off. I believe you should be able to replace the clip with very little effort as far as compressing the springs, if you have to compress the spring a long way, I would guess the springs are the biggest part of your problems. Next, completly remove the springs, then with a bathroom scale, place the bottom of the shock in an easy to duplicat spot as close to the center of the scale. A shock with a 250psi charge should start to compress somewhere between 40 - 60 pounds. For my son who weighed 130 pounds we aimed for the lower # . also you should be able to get all the way to the bumper before it doubles the begining of movement #. Well at least this is how we set his up.
While you have the frount shocks off. With the quad on a stand, make sure your suspension moves freely through the full range of the shock. This probubly won't help your problem you posted here but you would be suprised how a little binding in the A-arms or even swingarms can affect handleing.
