I'll go in halves with you if you buy a reamer. I would think the information for the correct taper must be out there somewhere. No reason to guess what it is. It would probably be next to impossible to get the info from yamaha. Maybe American Star would know and would actually tell you.
From what I could dig up on the web there are only two tapers used for automotive and guys use either with good results. I also would prefer to do it right. Will order this reamer and try it out if it doesnt work will send it back. Thanks Roger
It shouldn't be too hard to figure. Use some trusted calipers to measure the od at the large end of the taper, the od at the small end of the taper, then the length of the taper. Let me know how you measure the length of the taper- parallel or angled to the axis of the stud. I can then determine what the taper angle is and then shouldn't have any problem finding the reamer. Actually, I inherited about a half dozen of them and may have one. Just need some dimensions.
