I've only seen one other case like that....It was the original case in Wistech's St Anthonie's quad. He was spinning the tires on the ice under a bridge and hit a patch of snow and got killer traction wide open in 5th gear. Twisted it like a pretzel. It's hard to tell but that could be one of the cases known for cracking, but I never saw one do anything more than crack...not implode. I do see that the crack goes right thru the area known to start cracks on the back wall above the crank bearing.

It happened when I was casually riding at the dunes. It died, I started it back up, went up and down a small hill pounded through a small set of whoops and then it got really loud, lol. I looked and oil was everywhere. It was crazy, when we got back to camp all the guys with us were checking it out and so I tapped the starter just to see if it was siezed.....and it started! haha. The crankplate was also broken into 3 pieces. Two pieces in the upper left part broke off. Also, the piston pin access cover stretched and broke at one of the places a bolt goes through. Other than that, its all good. So much for those brand new main bearings, plus now I have to replace every sinlge bearing in the case and crankplate :''''( Oh well, got my JD Case on the way here any day now.
