i have an 01 fx 400 , gets spark , got compression , fuel pumps working checked for power to the fuel injectors it there . it sounds like it wants to start and i get a pop every now and then out the air box it just wont start. if anyone can help me out i would greatle appreciate it . john , thanks
Spun flywheel. Take off the black cover on the right side,it uses 4 Philips screw. Then the nut on the flywheel I think is 17mm take it off, you'll see a keyway that key way should line up with the "C" on the cannondale. If its not lined up you found your problem.
If its a fx400 cable clutch my bet is on a bad flywheel side main bearing. gently pry up and down on the flywheel to see if it has any movement. When the bearing goes it gets an intermittant crank signal from the flywheel wobbling and will just pop, spit and flood the motor. spun flywheel is first to check as well.

Yep various parts and Update kits are in stock.
Just call when nearby to your machine, and with the flywheel off. You may already have the second-generation case. If you can SEE the entire surface of the 30mm diameter seal, then cool -- easy fix for the leak anyway, and presuming the mainbearing is good like you say.
