Heating Costs
Hey Guys,
I am curious to know what you guys pay for heat a month.
I have electric heat and had a $800 bill this month .....Now let me tell you the specs of my house.
1200 square feet
700 of which I live in/Heat
I have not turned my thermostats above 70
I have a pellet stove to heat my house.
Most of the heat is turned of except the basemant in which I keep at the lowest setting to prevent frozen pipes.
Totally frustrated...never mind broke.

Where do you live? It averaged around 40-45 around here during january-february dipping to 20s at night. I have a 2000 sq ft house and heat all of it. My gas bill was 215.00 at the highest. I also dont have baseboards or trim around the doors right now ( I am remodeling) I run two 30000 btu Blue Flame heaters. They work great.

My house is about same size.Biggest so far was $225 for natural gas which includes waterheater and clothes dryer.Electric same month was $300.That is my fault for welding and running electric heater in garage.I know a mobile home in Way Northern WI costs about $400 at least just to have enough heat to keep pipes thawed set around 58deg.
We keep our thermostat set at around 62. We wear sweat shirts and long underwear all winter long indoors. And wool socks. Our house is around 1500 square feet and is about 150 years old and you can feel a breeze in it all the time. Our electric is around a hundred a month and our gas is 170 a month on the budget plan. $270 a month all year round. If we weren't on the budget plan, it would be zero in the summer for gas, but right now it would probably be about 300 or maybe more. Central wisconsin. Brrr.

Mine would be hard to figure. Propane bill isn't very high, but the double barrel wood stove eats some wood.
lets see
propane
+ gas and mantanence for chainsaw
+man hours to cut, haul and stuff the wood stove
- membership for gym
-the money I would probubly spend if I weren't out cutting wood
So it may be cheaper to just spend $800 a month
I think every year I say it will be the last for burning wood
