Removing Stock Axle

#1 Post by Dale512 »

How do I remove my axle? I got the wheel hubs & locknut off already. I have too remove the Rotor & Rotor Hub correct? If so how, I dont know how too get it off.

Thanks

You need to take the left hub off (sounds like you do) then take the dust cap off your sprocket hub, loosen the 3 small allen bolts and then loosen the whole locknut. Once it is loose enough, you can get to the clip and pop it out. Then slide the lock nut off, and your axle is ready to slide out. It makes it easier to put back in if you take your brake rotor hub off as well, but on a new bike or one that is not all corroded up it will slide right out.

Could u go into more detail as I'm not that mechanically inclined. Like I got the left hub off and the locknut is off, but what about the part it threads on to? what clip? Is it the little skinny gold/silver clip in front of the locknut thread or behind it?

Thanks
