Radiator Fluid ?

#1 Post by Honeycutt »

Hey guys I have just bought 2 03 Cannondales Cannnibal,Speed
My Speed has all of the updates and has the Blue ice radiator fluid in it. My Cannibal does not. I have heard this could be a problem with rust. If it needs to be changed I will change it ASAP. The Fluid looks very clean, it has about 8 hours on it. Thanks for all of the help.

This is a great board. I have been reading it for a while now and have learned alot. I do a lot more reading than I do posting.

Welcome aboard.

It's not rust you need to worry about, it's corrosion of the magnesium valve cover. You need to run a coolant that is waterless and non corrosive to the magnesium. Most of us use Evans NPG+, or Engine Ice. I've also used Liquid Performance with no problems.

The ultimate fix is to replace the magnesium cover with an aluminum cover. ATK is working on producing these and they should be released very soon.

Thanks for the quick response, I will be changing it asap.

Does anybody know the diffrence in Horsepower or Torque # between the speed map and Cannibal map. My Speed seems to idle a little faster than my Cannibal. Thanks

The speed map and the Cannibal map are identical other than the rev limit, so I'm guessing the Cannibal just needs the idle turned up a little bit, or tuned with a D&M kit smile.gif

i wouldnt rely on atk for the valve cover. i called them for one my self and they are having vender problems. Being the forman and a top notch cnc programer of a small machine shop i have talked things over with the ower and we have agreed to maked some valve covers out of billet aluminum. We are also proto typing on different water pump impellers and motor mount update kits.. the stuff from atk is just so over priced. like there oil hole vent line kit $71.00 come on less than $10 in MSC got me all the parts
