compatible shocks

#1 Post by speed_demon »

I thought I read somewhere that 400ex shocks were swap-ins for the Dale & vice-versa. I guess my real question is would a set of axis 400ex shocks or elkas bolt right up w/something simple like a bushing change?

Honda shocks have more stroke and will cause premature ball joint wear.

Jeff, is this true even w/aftermarket like elkas? I've got a friend w/TR elkas on his 400ex & he's looking to sell them (hopefully to me cheap!).

They may be hard on the ball joints but I havn't seen anything come from running them on the dales. Bobby's has elka's on there and the balls are in good shape. And they feel good.....

How much do the bushings cost? I hope I will be needing some real soon.

Perhaps I misspoke . I have only used Dale shocks on Hondas so I wouldnt know about using Honda shocks on a dale. You would have to pull the springs off and make sure the arms move fully up and down so the shock limits max travel, not the angle of the joint.
