quad is creeping

#1 Post by raptor0443 »

i just adjusted my brand new clutch on my quad, and know all the plates are in there right, but when i go to start the quad or give it gas with the clutch pulled in the quad creeps forward a little bit, and it is causing it to be a little harder to to start because the clutch isn't fully disengageing, i turned the set screw all the way in and then back out 3 turns should it turn it back in a little? please help!!!!!!!!!!

Is it a hydro or cable clutch?

u may have to tweak that adjustment screw until u find where it should be. Also make sure the plates are well oiled... u may have to let the motor run a bit to get this to happen because the plates sometimes stick together. i had this problem. it all works good now. but just mess with the screw until you find where it works the best.

was the new clutch wet or dry?

When you got the new clutch were the plates dry or were they oil soaked ? I read in the manual that they should be soaked overnight before installation

For sure, and if not soaking overnight, just rub the frictions good with tranny oil first -- oozy gooey is good biggrin.gif
