 this don't sound good at all if any of the bolts have backed out and are grinding against the back of the clutch basket you may want to pull the clutch cover and take a look also drian the oil and take a look at it! A good look!

As far as the stud update kit cdaleparts.com has them:cool:

hope this helps

I second Knights comments. If it's making a strange noise due to a bolt backing out, it's a little to late for the update.

There's no way to tell what the damage or cost could be without opening it up and checking everything out. There are like 15 bolts in there and it's no telling which one is loose, or if it's all the way out, or if there's more than one.

Best case would probably be one of the bolts behind the clutch basket is a little loose and scraping the basket. Assuming the metal peices that have shaved off haven't done any damage, you might get away with just doing the stud update and maybe replacing the clutch basket.

Worst case - 1 or more bolts have back all the way out and are bouncing around in there trashing everything they touch - new motor.

Gunked up valve?? The only noise a valve will make unless they need adjusted is the POP you hear when it hits the piston, they your motor is done. If this bike has a lot of time on it, I would have the valves checked, which would also be a good time for the stud kit. I have seen some of the cams on earlier models wear funny, not sure why yet, these motors make more noise than your normal 4-stroke, so maybe that is what you are hearing. Good luck with it, keep us posted.
