carrier question now

#1 Post by dawzie »

should I put in the duel row ball bearings or the wider single row roller bearing ??

and what about those washers on the outside of the bearings that the hubs press against. Where do I get them ??

i like the ball bearings for the carrier. tapered roller bearings are the best if you can find a manufacturer that makes a carrier for them. roller bearings are fine for pivot points but they usually generate more heat when spun fast vs a ball bearing. did you try atk for the washers? maz might have some also. don't count out haydug either.

had a talk with a local bearing supply house. Ball bearings are the way to go to replace in stock carriers. I got OEM Fafnir bearings coming and seals. Are the Dales the only ones that use the washers ?? I dont remember seeing them in our EX or R.

The washers act as little spacers so you get proper distance from your rotor to your swingarm...
