ball joints

#1 Post by mike justice »

My son rides my 2003 cannibal sometimes when he is not riding his motocross bike which he races. The other day he came back earlier than i expected.I knew there had to be a problem.HEsaid he noticed the steering getting stiff .I jacked it up, and found what was wrong. The right front lower ball joint had tried to come apart and was hung in the socket.I bumped it with my foot and it came apart.I am not going to use any more of these lower ball joints.I am going to find a ball joint that will not come apart like this even if i have to build a control arm to fit it!!!

Thanks for the info.I have already read most of the information on here and cannondaler and was thinking about this any way.I have already been looking at ball joints in a parts store where a friend of mine works.I am a diesel mechanic and i work on heavy equipment at a coal mines here in WV,which involves welding and electrical work.I was also was a motorcycle mechanic back in the 70`s.I remember other manufacturers that had problems when they first came out with something new. Cannondale never really got a chance to get the bugs out before folding.I think i can come up with something.I enjoy a challange.I'll let you guys know what i come up with. smile.gif
