A-arm question

#1 Post by canibalistic »

I have aquired a set of custom +2+1 a-arms and this may sound really dumb but the shock mount on the lower a-arm is not centered and my question is do the lower arms mount with the shock mount toward the rear of the quad or toward the front of the quad? I first mounted them with the shock mount towards the front of the quad and it seemed like my shock angled to far forward, then I mounted them with the shock mount towards the rear of the quad and it seemed like my shock angled to far to the rear. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jeff

what brand are they? call the company and ask them themselves..they should know, considering they are the ones who hopefully researched and designed them

are they 400ex arms or cannondale arms? running the shocks at angles wear out the seals rather quickly, so i wouldn't recommend it.

They are cannondale a-arms, I don't know what brand they are. They came off of a pro TT 03 cannondale, and I'm sure I could get the guy I bought them off of to call the guy he bought them off of to find out I just thought this might be common with +2+1 design. I looked at the asr's that are selling on ebay, just in the pic and it looked like the shock mount was offset on them too. I thought it might be a given that they went one way or the other.

You could always cut and weld them in there straight. I wouldn't be comfortable running them crooked.

The Walsh I have are adjustable for 1" forward or stock by moving a collar at the frame mounting point,do they have a collar or spacer where they mount to the frame?
